Open Cottage is built to help people discover independent food creators through honest profiles—not through feeds, likes, or marketplace checkout. This page explains how we think about trust and safety on the platform.
What Open Cottage is (and is not)
Open Cottage is a directory and portfolio. We do not process food orders, payments, or delivery. Any purchase or meeting arranged after discovering a creator happens off-platform between the parties involved. See our Food Disclaimer.
Community expectations
- Be honest. Creators should present themselves and their food accurately.
- Respect others. Do not harass, threaten, or impersonate people.
- Own your content. Only upload photos and text you have the right to use.
- Follow the law. Do not use Open Cottage for unlawful activity.
Creator profiles
Published profiles are public. Creators are responsible for the accuracy of their details, photos, and contact links. Food lover accounts remain private and are not searchable.
Reporting concerns
Use the Report profile button on a public creator page to submit a concern with your email and a short description. We’ll email you a confirmation link; the report is filed for operator review after you verify. You can also email us:
- Impersonation or misleading profile information
- Harassment or abusive behavior
- Copyright or trademark concerns (also see our DMCA Policy)
- Other Trust and Safety issues related to the Service

Include relevant profile URLs, screenshots if helpful, and a clear description of the issue. We review reports as promptly as we reasonably can. We may unpublish or remove profiles that violate our Terms.
Safety tips for visitors
- Verify important details directly with creators before meeting or buying food
- Use caution with off-platform payments and meetings
- Ask about allergens, ingredients, and licensing when it matters to you
